Family Law Associate Attorney (Full-Time)
Full-Time / In-Office / Joppa, Maryland / Salary: $85,000
Position Overview
We are seeking a first-year Family Law Associate Attorney to join our in-office team in Joppa, MD. This role is ideal for a newly licensed Maryland attorney who is passionate about family law and ready to take ownership of a caseload with mentorship and support. You will handle a variety of matters, including divorce, custody, child support, and protective orders.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where grit, curiosity, and a willingness to grow are essential.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, agreements, and discovery.
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings.
- Work closely with clients and other team members to develop case strategies and provide guidance.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure high-quality service and smooth case flow.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Maryland.
- Demonstrated interest in family law (clinic work, internships, coursework, or prior experience welcomed).
- Strong writing, communication, and advocacy skills.

Family Law Legal Assistant – Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Part-Time)

Position Overview
We are seeking an empathetic, detail-oriented, and highly organized Part-Time Family Law Legal Assistant to join our team. This individual will support our new Family Law Associate Attorney and help ensure our clients feel guided, informed, and cared for throughout their family law matters.
Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a warm and professional demeanor, and can handle sensitive and emotional situations with discretion. This role is hands-on and requires someone who can manage administrative tasks, client communications, and case support while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Client Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for family law clients, addressing basic inquiries and ensuring messages and updates are relayed promptly.
- Communicate with empathy and professionalism, especially in emotionally charged matters (custody, divorce, protective orders).
- Maintain timely and clear communication between clients and the attorney.
- Case Support
- Assist with client intake for family law matters, including gathering documents and ensuring forms are completed accurately.
- Help clients understand basic process steps, timelines, and document requirements (without providing legal advice).
- Draft and format routine correspondence and legal documents under attorney supervision (e.g., cover letters, exhibit lists, basic pleadings/templates).
- Schedule appointments, consultations, mediations, and court-related deadlines in collaboration with the attorney.
- Coordinate with court staff, opposing counsel offices, vendors, and clients as needed.
- Relationship Management
- Build trust and rapport with clients using a client-first approach.
- Handle sensitive, high-stakes situations with grace and discretion.
- Provide reassurance and clarity to clients during difficult family transitions.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of client communications and case updates in the firm’s case management system.
- Manage calendar scheduling and reminders, ensure deadlines are tracked, and assist with file organization.
- Prepare mailing/filings and maintain clean, accurate digital files.
- Use Stamps.com, Adobe Acrobat, and standard office tools to prepare and manage documents.
Qualifications
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a diverse clientele.
- Experience in a legal support role preferred (family law experience is a plus, but not required).
- Familiarity with client intake and client management required.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency with case management software (MyCase preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency using Adobe Acrobat and Stamps.com.

Family Law Discovery Specialist (Part-Time)
Part-time / In-Office / Joppa, Maryland / Salary: $20 per hour to start
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Family Law Discovery Specialist to support our growing family law practice. This role is dedicated exclusively to managing discovery in family law matters and will work closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure discovery is thorough, timely, and strategically sound.
The ideal candidate has a strong legal background, a genuine interest in learning, and takes initiative without needing constant direction. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys digging into details, building systems, and becoming an essential part of a fast-paced family law team.
Responsibilities
- Discovery Management
- Draft and organize discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas (under attorney supervision).
- Review, organize, and summarize discovery materials, including financial documents, communications, and records.
- Track discovery deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling orders.
- Follow up on incomplete or deficient discovery responses.
- Prepare discovery binders, summaries, and exhibits for hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Case Support & Coordination
- Work closely with attorneys to identify discovery needs and priorities.
- Flag missing information, inconsistencies, and potential red flags in discovery.
- Assist with preparation for depositions and evidentiary hearings.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- Process & Systems Support
- Help maintain discovery templates, checklists, and workflows.
- Take initiative to improve organization and efficiency in discovery handling.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across all family law cases.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a legal support role (paralegal, legal assistant, or similar).
- Family law or civil litigation experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Comfortable learning and applying court rules and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software (MyCase preferred).
